With the film’s release just five months away, Marvel has released a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The new trailer has a lot more of Baby Groot than the first teaser, more of the bromance between Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Dave Bautista’s Drax, all accompanied by a 70s track in the form of Sweet’s Fox On the Run.
The surprising thing is that even at an over two-minute run, it’s still being referred to as a “teaser trailer” by Marvel – despite already giving a brief look back in October. There’s much more footage here obviously, with the reveal of a giant squid-like creature that looks to be one of the film’s big action set-pieces, along with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) instructing a Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) on what not to do with the atomic bomb: don’t push the button.
Beyond that, there is tons of action in the new trailer – from Zoe Saldana’s Gamora willingly launching herself at the creature, Pratt steering away from a bee-like swarm of spacecrafts, and even Baby Groot getting in on the action – with what seems like a quite powerful vine grip.
In other Marvel news, the studio revealed that Luke Cage – which is a part of the Netflix-Marvel partnership, and leads into The Defenders, colloquially known as The Avengers’ TV counterpart – will be getting a second season. There’s no word on when it’ll arrive, as the 2017 lineup is already loaded with the likes of Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher; and new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Joneshave already been greenlit by Netflix.
